Camelback Mountian is the highest mountain in the Phoenix Mountains and a prominent landmark. The trails are very busy, many people hike this mountain every day.
It is the closest climbing to Phoenix, with the rock being a sort of desert conglomeration that has been described as 'petrified mud.' There are some good routes here, however, and a fun day of climbing and bouldering can be had here for locals as well as visiting climbers.
