Crag features
Ballikayalar is a canyon-like valley that lies in Kocaeli, about an hour drive from Istanbul. A beautiful sport crag with a few trad lines. Routes vary between 10 and 25 meters. Being close to Istanbul, the valley can be busy with tourists over the weekends. So be extra careful of falling rock as people may stroll through the upper platforms over the routes.

Approach notes
Open all year round and parking is available.
The crag can be reached by car by following the main road out of Istanbul to Gebze then continue east to Tavsanli. Go through the centre of the town into the valley. The distance to the area from Istanbul is 65 km.
The other option is dolmus (a minibus) which you can get from Uskudar to Gebze then on to Tavsanli and a 30 min walk to the crag.
