Barry Valley or Creag Bhuidhe was first highlighted by Mike Gale,Duncan Swarbrick,Brian Fishpool and the G2 outdoor crew down in Aviemore and of course Richie Betts and Dave Wheeler, although they put a few problems up on the Big Split, Moonstone and on the Eastern Face they were{as was the habit of the time} unnamed.

Please Check the Photos for Picture Topo's

Video's of the Problems/Projects can be found here-

The Valley is very much like Ruthven, Duntelchaig and Brin. Sharp BUT loads of it.

This is a new venue and some of the problems may have seen only a couple of acsents. BE AWARE holds may pop.

Although the Animal Boulder is only 5 mins from the road a lot of the climbing is quite spread out, BUT spend a wee bit of time and energy and the problems are definietly worth it.

The Big Split{1 min from the car} is a great warm up if your hanging about waiting for friends to arrive.

Wear your wellies as it gets boggy, Barry Valley dries quickly and does not suffer the same midge death as Ruthven and Brin as it tends to get a breeze.

Loads of problems to grab folks. Clean it, Climb it, Name it. Them's the rules.

Lets all stay friends and respect peoples projects please :)

I have provided Maps and picture Topo's of the Valley. Check out the Picture Gallery.

Approach notes

Barry Valley is situated between Brin and Dunlichity.

From Brin follow the Single Track road for a couple of miles toward Dunlichity and Duntelchaig. After a Cattle grid and a big Split Boulder with a Pine tree growing out the top in the field to your right, you will see a BIG boulder with a wee cave on some rising ground up the hill to your left. This is the Animal Boulder.{The Fun Starts here}

We have been climbing in Barry Valley for several years and NEVER had a problem with Access. PLEASE park considerately.{Not in passing places}

Access Advice

Limited parking. Please dont block gates or passing places and leave NO mess
