Dentelles de Montmiral, looking east from the col. © Dr Toph
Part of the Dentelles de Montmirail. This kilometer long ridge of limestone runs roughly east-west with climbing sectors on both its north and south sides.
The dirt road from Gigondas is now subject to closures to the public at the end of the tarmac road (and also from the south, just after the crags of St Christophe). When this is the case, park here and walk up to the old parking area at the col de Cayron then continue up the obvious footpath that starts next to a large information board up to the crag. The path arrives at the crag at the sector Aiguillette Lagarde. Go rightwards or leftwards from here to reach the other sectors. The south facing sectors are reached by following the path on upwards and through the prominent notch, the Brèche de la Pousterle. This is the point marked on the map.
When the barrier is open drive up to the col de Cayron as normal. See dates in 'Access Issues' below.
The dirt road through the Dentelles is now subject to closure for certain periods:
1 May - 15 June - the barriers are normally open but closures are possible by 'arrêté préfectoral'.
16 June - 15 September - the barriers will be closed.
16 September - 30 April - the barriers will be open.
Climbing is however unaffected.
