Crag features

A nice conglomerate sports crag with 23 low to mid grade sport routes 8-15 mts high. Nice spot, good views open and flat at the base. Can seep in wet winter months. Developed by SMC members. Beware of ticks and geese. Note that you will need at least a 40m rope to do most of the longer routes at this crag.

Approach notes

From the south, cross the Mound bridge, take the first parking on the left and cross to find a track. Approach along the forest track, taking the first left to the east side of the forestry. Once the track turns sharply right take the small foot path to the forest edge, which is followed to the Crag - 10minutes.

First visit here - great intro to outdoor sport climbing. The rock is really grippy with some great pockets and good holds. Inspires confidence. Some nice short routes (including 3 new routes not in the guidebooks) for folk starting out alongside some bigger, tougher routes. The first left turn off the track is easy to miss - it's a much narrower path so don't miss it. Recommended!

The two really easy routes at the far left of the crag were put up for some kids to learn to climb/lead. My dad bolted them and I lead them. Haven't decided on names etc yet.

Very pleasant venue and seemed well bolted. The first left turn on the track is a bit indistinct. Again to reiterate other comments, do a thorough tick check!

Could of warned us it was tidal! :) Much hilarity as we had to rescue our bags off the rock, and boulder back along the base of the crag. We'll pay attention next time. Warm rock in November though - Nice

Good sunny and sheltered crag on conglomerate. The climbing is quite pumpy and enjoyably steep and well worth a visit if you are nearby. A bit of a rarity being a scottish sports crag with maybe 10 easier (4-6a+) routes. From the top you get a good view over the sandflats of Loch Fleet NNR. Lots of geese around.

There are a number of newer bolted routes between Manitou and Train Spotting and also too the right of Above the Line so the list is quite in order at the moment. needs sorting out or a new topo. Great crag for a short day.

Nice crag but beware there are lots of ticks if walking through the fields. Best to walk through the forest.

Just climed the two leftmost routes oat this crag. One left of a small tree ( at the bottom ) and the next to the rightof it. Can't see these on any of the topos here.
