Crimson Crag © Dan Still

Crag features

A small south-west facing sea-cliff is situated about 3 miles east of Beasdale on the north shore of Loch nam Uamh, a short distance south of the A830 close to a wide bend in the road opposite a large European Union sign. The routes are short but on impeccable rock and ideal for an evening or passing visit. Accessible at low to mid tide. About 3mins approach from the road verge!

Update May 2022: Bollards on the wide bend mean it is hard to park at the wide bend (although still possible). These may have been installed recently. Alternative parking can be found further east at a large layby.

Update April 2023: Do not park on the wide bend, this upsets the locals. Please park in the large layby.

Approach notes

Approaching from the road, the crag runs southwards below a grassy knoll. The first rocks reached comprise a 5m cracked bulging wall, and thereafter a series of short slabby walls and corners, a prominent overhanging wall and a final slabby area. The initial wall is undercut with two boulders at the base and offers a couple of boulder problems.

No Access Issues

The crofter has voiced concerns about climbers on his land.  Please be courteous and park  at Princes cairn layby, NM 71888 84467, follow the A830 West - it would be good to keep all kit etc at the base of the crag.
