Cave crags comprises several buttresses spread around a piece of south facing mountain side. Most buttresses are hidden by trees and and don't see much traffic, except Upper Cave Crag, which can be a sun trap in the summer and is very popular for both trad and sport. Upper Cave offers some superb, steep trad and overhanging sport routes. Recommended: Rat Race E4, High Performance E3, Marjorie Razorblade E3, Warfarin E2, Silk Purse 7c+, Marlina 7c, Hamish Teddy's Excellent Adventure 7b+.
Expect to queue for sport routes in Upper Cave during the weekend.
The crags are best accessed from the Cally Car Park at NO023437 (56.575134, -3.591566), reached off the A923 Dunkeld to Blairgowrie road. Felling operations may require detours from the approach routes given in the guidebook.
Can also be accessed as for Craig a Barns and then follow a complex path through the woods.
