Crag features

A good mid-grade boulder of clean and rough gneiss, only two minutes from the road. Technical problems and decent landings.

Approach notes

Drive through Farr towards Brin. After about half a mile take a left towards Garbole. After a few hundred metres park on the right by a forestry entrance. The boulder was visible from the road, but as of 2022 the plantation has regrown around it, making it invisible until you get quite close - but it is only about 5 minutes from the entrance at NH679 311. Follow track to a vague crossroad and continue straight on for 50mnlooking for vague narrow path leading to boulder, the top of which is just visble at start of path through a small gap in the trees.

Quite obviously the SECOND best single boulder after the Ruthven Boulder, but still an excellent must-visit bloc. Awesome rock and good technical problems to complement Ruthven's burliness.

the best single boulder in strathnairn, wonderful featured rock and a dozen or so quality problems make this an essential add on to a brin trip, oh and its fast drying and relatively midge free
