Gill Crag (sometimes called Dovedale Slabs) lies high on the hillside on the right as the gate through the wall 1km above the farm is passed. A lower 15m wall is separated from the main slabs by a grassy terrace called Bird-Cage Walk.
The rock is uniformly excellent and the climbs are great fun, variation is possible almost anywhere.
Descent is to the right.
The crag can be approached directly from the gate on the track up Dovedale or, when walking along the ridge to or from Hart Crag, by descending to the Perch, a 3m pinnacle which lies just above the slab about 50m to the south of the ridge.
45 min steep walk from the Brotherswater Inn (camping).
