Crag features

Steep smooth slate mostly up groove lines though harder wall climbs on the back wall. Once bold local test pieces are now bolted with lower offs to increase traffic and keep the rock clean. There is a golf course behind the crag so don't top out else this may annoy golfers and cause problems with access.

See topo here - https://www.ukclimbing.com/photos/dbpage.php?id=124788    Thanks to Fiend for this.

Approach notes

Park at “the old bulls head” pub on the junction between B591 (Beacon Road) and Main Street in Woodhouse Eves. Walk North along Brook Road for 400m, and cross the large gate on the left between large hedges/trees. Follow the hedgerow on the left side of the field until you can hop the fence in the corner into the trees. The crag is in the trees just to the right, around a small pond.

There is no formal access agreement to climb at this crag and the golf club don't want climbers here at all  (evidenced by the NO CLIMBING signs painted on the rock and nailed into surrounding trees)  So PLEASE keep a low profile whilst approaching, don't damage any gates or walls and keep clear of the golfcourse.

There has always been loose rock on Helloverang and Vertex, please be careful on these routes.

JUNE 2019 ROCKFALL - There has also been reports of loose rock / rockfall / total collapse (?) of routes right of Christ Almighty. Please report any info here and I will update this page.

4 out of the 5 routes climbed were pretty decent. Didn't expect too much but for the only bolted crag in the area my only concern would be the lower offs. That tat that links the two bolts is well past it. Bring some ovals to leave with the bolts at the top that are missing them.

Turned up to have nose about and quick climb a couple of weeks ago. Gate into field was locked and had barbed wire wrapped over the top of it. Farmer started ploughing field between quarry and gate while we climbed, so we opted to to take a route across the golf course to leave to avoid him. The climbing was average and not really worth the hassle, especially when the Peak is so close.

Great crag. The routes on the back wall are excellent. Plutonium is missing a crucial hold now and Christ has so much loose rock at the top that I deem it unsafe. Plenty of other routes to play with though!

Sweet crag, currently in condition. Approach is fine and quite well trodden now. Apart from the climbs at 5a, the rest of the routes are solid and much better than most quarries!

Nice secluded area but it can be overgrown so take a pair of shears! Some of the slate was pretty loose on a few climbs but generally most of the holds were pretty stable.

Its just confusing as the above tick list does not correspond with the topo.

The new route is pretty much Weekend Warrior with bolts. See the below link. Cheers

Can admin please check the above tick list in relation to the topo as its missing a route titled 'new route' which should be route 4 on the list. This places all further routes out of place with topo.
