Tucked away on the hillside below Haytor, and discernible from its now quite overgrown spoil heaps, is Haytor Quarry, the source of a good deal of the local stone. There are several slightly esoteric climbs and a couple of good boulder problems too, not to mention that it is a good picnic spot and quiet retreat when the nearby honeypot is overflowing.
The quarry is an easy 450m walk from the bottom Haytor car park. Walk directly to the spoil heaps along a well-trodden path that leads steadily to a gate where the steep wall of Sandman can be seen straight below you.
Currently the dip that holds problems such as Straight No Chaser etc is under water from the heavey rain :-( BoulderMonster - 09/Sep/10 |

Fantastic crag. A really inspiring venue for me, still with some little gems yet to be done. "ow but soon" ;-) BoulderMonster - 16/Nov/08 |
