Crag features

Small but perfectly formed bouldering crag a couple of hundred metres to the south-east of Simon's Seat. It does not appear to offer much from a distance as the bouldering is tucked out of sight.

The climbs cover a spread of grades and are, almost without exception, extremely good.

The rock is undoubtedly the purest grit on Barden Fell (and therefore perhaps in Yorkshire?) and will not stand abuse. Keep brushing to a minimum; a whack with a towel between attempts is plenty.

Approach notes

Approach as for Simon's Seat until you reach the crossroads in the path - Hen Stones is visible to the south-east as a small outcrop.

There is no direct path to the crag - take care not to trip over nesting birds or fall into bogs.
