Approach to the Pha Daeng Mountain Laos. © davis

Crag features

Pha Daeng is the towering mountain that sits over the river on the west side of town. The close proximity makes for an easy hike and the cliffs size has huge potential for more development. There is one section of wall accessible in the wet season and a small short piece on the left. The approach trail brings you to the route Highland Games.

Adams climbing school in Vang Vieng rents gear, sells chalk gear and is super for latest beta.

Approach notes

First get to the Nam song river and find a suspension foot bridges. During the wet season they take down the foot bridges so you have to cross at the big vehicle bridge and pay 4000 kip. Follow the road around right until you get to the Maylyn Guest House and continue on for 200 yards or so until you see the mountain on your right and a blue sign for a cave leading across the rice field or white flags on bamboo poles. More than likely you’ll be swarmed by a gang of kids or local man wirh tickets there to collect your 10000 kip to go see the cave.
