Crag features

The small harbour of Porthgain is an interesting place with striking industrial relics from the former quarrying and brick-making industries. There are 3 climbing areas west of the harbour. The area below the remains of the red brick quarry buildings includes a few sport routes in the old quarry and some traditional routes on the natural sea cliffs.

Approach notes

Parking near a pub, follow the coastal path south and follow tramway below ruined brick buildings.

Approach from Porthgain harbour in 10-15 mins.
Looked at this from the top the other day. Saw two bolted lines in the zawn. Looked to be circa VS. Bolted but looked to be natural pro available. Not sure why the bolts are there.

Appear to be 4 or 5 routes bolted of reasonable quality but with loose sections. I was fishing at the time so only looked at them from the bottom. I'd say the routes are mostly F6 or F7 so not too easy but hard to say without climbing them. Good location, but probably not the most worthwhile place to visit.
