Crag features

Teisendammen provides the closest decent ice climbing to Trondheim being a mere 10 minute drive from the city centre.

The waterfall coming off the dam freezes fat, allowing for approximately 8-10m of climbing.

Often top-roped, there is a railing at the top which may be used to back up any TR anchors placed in the ice.

Grades are hypothetical as the climbing isn't really worth grading and they relate only to the steepness of the ice, at different climbable points on the dam. The left pillar, the central icefall and the steeper right pillar.

Approach notes

By car:

Follow the signs from the city centre to Byåsen. Turn left at the roundabout in Ila in (NW Trondheim) onto Byåsenveien. Follow the road until the junction to Gråkallen, turn right and follow the road straight up to the junction, go straight over and turn right into Byåsen Butikksenter (the shopping centre) car park, 2 hours free parking is available here.

Walk directly up the lane to the farm to the right of the fields and follow the signpost (left) on the main path to Teisendammen (0.2km).

Take the right hand direction at the fork, keeping the lake on the left, walk round until you reach the dam.
