Not a route for the short! © Stuart Wood

Crag features

A genuinely pleasant quarry environment with a good view and flat grassy base - bring a picnic. Has many short steep Extreme-grade routes that pack a good punch, and most deserve more stars. Kick Off (HVS), Big Tree Corner (E1), Look Sharp (E2), Anvil Arete (E2), Treacle Slab (E3) and Violation (E3) are good starters.

Approach notes

No access restriction. Park in large car park at Tilberthwaite, 5 minute walk up track to quarry.

Brilliant to see bolts being changed, as love this place, a real hidden gem. could do with some more stakes on the upper left hand side above things like jugglers crack, either that or i cant find them in the bracken. also has captain pugwash actually fallen down as i swear its there ?

Many of the old bolts and hangers have been replaced (June 2015). Most are like for like so still expect some spicy moves, Anvil Arete etc. Plus there's a few new anchor bolts and stakes on top. Thanks to all involved : )

Recent rockfalls have removed Captain Pugwash & Spare Rib Lorna's orifices is dangerous to climb due to hanging flake. Also many of the bolt hangers on Upper quarry RHS have been removed

There has been a rockfall on the left side of the popular easy wall at the entrance on the top right hand side of quarry. It is obvious and has destroyed a bolted route left of the wall (often used to abseil)and is next to the easy sloping corner goove. If you look there remains a massive detached flake that looks dangerous.Oct 2011.
