Crag features

South facing on a clear felled hillside. This area is quick to dry after rain and is a great year round venue. Landings are all good and the walk in is sub 5 minutes. A great circuit of problems have been developed here on very good quality sandstone.

There is also a crag containing 7 routes of up to 7 metres. It is worth inspecting the top as some finishes are very rounded.

Approach notes

Mr Brown the farmer MUST be contacted before visiting. The boulders are on privately owned land. Mr Brown is happy for people to visit and climb there but this will only continue if you adhere to his request you call beforehand.

His number is: 07790 360 333 or 01665 578 245

Head North on the A697 towards Powburn. Make a right turn about a mile before  Powburn on Playwell Road (what3words - thundered.goodness.spades).

Follow this road to a crossroad and turn right. After about half a mile there is a left turn. Take this and the boulders will be visible on the hillside to your left.

There are a number of parking spots before the left turn on the grass verge and on the road that runs below the boulders.

Please do not block gates or the roads. Heavy farm machinery need access.

Approach is sub 5 minutes.
