Crag features

A good off the beaten track crag, 2 sectors. The Penon de Pio has some good looking 2 pitch routes close to the car (about 5-10m uphill) Best in the 6a and up range, park in the rambla(dry river bed). Recently equipped with 10mm bolts. A nice outlook over the church and motorway. If you want more have a look at the route on the roof of the underpass!. Solana del Castellon is a couple of Kms to the left (looking at Penon de Pio)take the left before the underpass follow this alongside the motorway then cross the rambla towards Fuente del Gato, turn up a dirt track that leads to various houses park at the highest point and scramble up the hillside. At present there are only 4 routes but there is scope for alot more. A good find for people stuck between the Costa Blanca and El chorro or passing through. An online topo can be found at the Crosquil website - www.croquis.tk

Approach notes

Come off the A92 into Velez Rubia and look for a petrol station on the south (Motorway side) turn south on a small road (either before or after the petrol station they both end up in the same place) and follow graffiti under the motorway to the Rambla, turn right and find parking just under sector Penon de Pio. For the Solana del Castellon turn left just before the underpass follow the road go under a different underpass follow alomgside the motorway follow around to the right across the rambla towards Fuente del Gato crag is visible above you, take a dirt track right which leads to some houses park as close to the trees and scramble up in 10/15mins
