Chris commented on the grade:
"After chatting to the locals, and questioning the grade, it seems that this is deemed ridiculously hard for 8B, and so I've gone for the original grade of 8B+, as claimed by Klem and Bernard Schwaiger. The problem has only had four ascents including Klem's since 2001, so I think this speaks volumes!"
On the same trip Wales based Dave Noden repeated Klem Loskot's other hard test-piece Wrestling with an Alligator, at Font 8B. Chris told UKClimbing.com:
"Dave climbed this with his usual flare, not actually wanting to come down once at the top! This is the first British ascent of this problem - well done that man on one of the most impressive hard ascents of the year."
The pair of die-hard boulderers had a great trip to the beautiful wooded area, sleeping out in the trees in temperatures of -10.
Chris said:
"Malatatal is a really clean, peaceful place, so information on how to get there is hard to come by. I think that this is a great thing - if people want to get there, then they really have to want to! It's nice to arrive at a venue these days and get really tough grades - not much change here at all for your efforts!"
