Pete Robins has added a hard boulder problem to the Llanberis Pass, North Wales. The now named Ropes of Maui (8B) is a sit start of desperate climbing (around 7C+/8A in its own right) finishing up the existing 8A, Stoned Temple Pilots.
Ropes of Maui is found in the 'Hall of the Mountain King' which is an unusual cave formed by a leaning boulder, on the hillside underneath Dinas Mot. From the outside it looks like a tiny squeeze between the rocks, but opens out inside to form a steep cave wall.

Pete found trying to link the new start in to the existing 8A tough going, and after failing on the same move on Stoned Temple Pilots multiple times, each time having climbed the lower hard moves successfully, Pete finally got through the move and climbed Ropes of Maui on his 10th session.
Pete commented on the difficulty:
"Its about 10-12 hard moves in a row, 5/6 of them to gain the start of Stoned Temple Pilots, followed by about the same again on easier ground, climbing up into the light. I think/hope it'll be popular as its close to the Cromlech, more long than desperate, and pretty good conditions in summer."
