© The New York Times

Filmmakers Elizabeth Chai Vasarhelyi and Jimmy Chin discuss whether involving cameras in Alex's solo attempt at Freerider would become a distraction. They decided on a vérité style of filmmaking; fly on the wall with minimal interaction.
