VIDEO: Bouldering in Las Vegas and Chile with Nalle Hukkataival

This short film delves into the mindset of Nalle Hukkataival as he attempts to repeat one of America's hardest problems, Sleepwalker (8C+), and balancing that with his true motivation of climbing first ascents. He explains that for him, the moment of actually climbing a boulder problem is secondary compared to the hard work of finding, cleaning and working out the climb.

The film juxtaposes his attempts on Sleepwalker with a trip to the Chilean bouldering area of Tuzgle, where Hukkataival's main aim is to develop new climbs. Tuzgle was first developed by a group of French and Swiss climbers in 2008. The area is on a 14,00ft high altiplano at the base of a volcano and has great potential for development.

Is he flying first class in that? Haha - things are on the up in the pro game clearly. Good vid, always like watching Nalle climb, such a smooth climber.

A good film which builds the story well. The middle section in Chile with some spectacular boulders was spoilt by some music that was at odds with the climbing and location. I would have preferred the ambient sounds of the altiplano to enhance the great visuals. As he says, a major part of the experience is being out in the environment. When he came to climb Sleepwalker we had some good sound effects with minimal music. Climbing and landscape of this quality doesn't need excessive music.
