Stone Locals - Rediscovering the Soul of Rock ClimbingFri Night Vid

© Patagonia

This week's Friday Night Video tells the story of five 'Stone Locals' who, the film argues, keep the soul of climbing and nurture it as the sport evolves. The filmmakers argue that put forward the idea that climbing has always been more than just a sport, it's provided a way of life and a makeshift family to misfits. As the sport grapples with its growing popularity, the people who anchor its core and community have more responsibility than ever. These anchors are the Stone Locals.

Watched this tonight with my son (17) and found it interesting.

A thoughtful climbing film that’s more about the people than the climbing.

It doesn’t shy away from some difficult aspects of people’s lives in terms of what they have been through, but it still feels very authentic.

Also beautifully shot and edited.

Well done to all involved.

I liked the quote following the revelations about the personal stories - "Climbing isn't the answer. It can lead you to an answer".

Beautiful editing. Avalonia was by far my favorite segment. Such a poetic piece, person.
