Kendal Mountain Festival is just around the corner and the event is going online this year for the first time. As always, the team behind the festival have been hard at work putting together a programme of films, sessions, lectures and the Literature Festival. Despite this year's obvious difficulties, the team have doubled down to bring us oodles of exciting and inspiring content, combined with the atmosphere of the festival but streamed straight to our screen.
At UKClimbing, we'll be adding to the excitement and festival build-up with our own interviews of the inspiring guests. We'll speak to authors such as Helen Mort, Ed Caesar and Kerry Andrews, all of who have new books out.
On the climbing side, instead of our usual 'on-site' interviews, we'll be talking to some of the festival guests via Zoom. One we're particularly keen to hear from is Tom Randall, who spent most of his summer going toe-to-toe with Will Birkett for the Classic Rock Round record. We'll find out Tom's motivation behind the continuous swapping of best times, how he coped with the physical demands of the round and knowing Tom, a few funny stories about getting lost along the way.
Tom will be interviewed in a session at the festival by UKC's very own Rob Greenwood, alongside Will Birkett who holds the current record.
