The Ticklist: #42 - Dani Arnold Petit Dru North Face Speed Solo, Michaela Kiersch on Form

© Romano Salis

A quieter week around the world after a busy couple of summer months at home and abroad, but some big sends nonetheless...

Hard Sport for Michaela Kiersch

American Michaela Kiersch has climbed the first female ascent of America's first 8c, Super Tweak, which was first climbed by Boone Speed in 1994.

Kiersch also climbed Chris Sharma's Dreamcatcher (9a) in Squamish, Canada. The old aid line that Sharma freed in 2005 has now seen two female ascents after Paige Claassen climbed the line at the start of September.

Dani Arnold speed solos the Petit Dru North Face

Back in August, Swiss alpinist Dani Arnold soloed the North Face of the Petit Dru (3733m) taking just 1 hour and 43 minutes on the Allain Leininger route. Arnold has now soloed each of six classic north faces in the Alps and he holds the fastest known times on all but the Eiger, which Ueli Steck climbed in 2 hours, 22 minutes and 50 seconds back in 2015, beating Arnold's time by six minutes.

Arnold commented on the feat on his Instagram:

'It all started with the north face of the Eiger on April 2011. And now, more than 10 years later, I have managed to climb the sixth ant the last north face of the Alps alone and fast. I would like to thank all people who have supported me in any way.'
