New 9b+ for Adam Ondra

Adam Ondra has established Zvěřinec (Menagerie), a new 9b+ at his home crag of Moravian Karst. He has described the route as 'the second hardest route' he has ever climbed, after Silence (9c).

Zvěřinec adds a more difficult start to one of Adam's other routes at Moravian Karst, Perlorodka, 9a+. Adam has since said that Perlorodka itself perhaps deserves an upgrade:

'In 2011, I made my first ascent of Perlorodka (Pearloyster) after quite a few days of effort. Striking line in possibly the best rock that we have at our homecrag'.

'Back then, I gave it 9a+, but I think it deserves more 9b'.

Adam described the start to Zvěřinec as potentially being '9a+ on its own'. This new start leads into a good rest, before tackling the hardest section of Perlorodka. Adam described the crux as 'very improbable... at solid 8B+ difficulty with reachy moves and desperate slapping of the completely rounded lip of the overhang'.

Zvěřinec is the fifth 9b+ that Adam has climbed, after Change (L1+L2) (9b+), La Dura Dura (9b+), Move (9b+), and Vasil Vasil, all of which he established.

Zvěřinec joins Vasil Vasil, as well as Adam's 9c Silence, as routes that are yet to be repeated.
