8c onsight by Ramonet

8a.nu reports that the Spanish climber Ramón Julian Puigblanque has onsighted Suma0, 8c, in Cuenca. The route is 32m long including a 10m overhang. Puigblanque, who won the European Cup in 2004 and who last year led the World Cup when he missed the final isolation time in the last competition, becomes the fourth to have onsighted 8c joining Tomás Mrázek, Patxi Usobiaga and Yuji Hirayama in this elite club. Puigblanque has many impressive onsights and first ascents including the 9a+ extension to La Rambla at Siurana,Spain.

Surprised its only 4 that can claim this feat. Would have thought there were a few others more than capable.

I just remember watching Moon on Agincourt in the Buoux 8c vid, and shudder in amazement that anyone can onsight at that grade at all.

Aye, its a properly impressive bit of climbing, no doubt. Just surprised that Sharma, Graham, Caldwell et al haven't bagged one between them.

Overhyped 'mericans? They can probably boulder/ send El Cap rotes quicker than the Spanish guys....

one person from these shores if not two are CAPABLE of doing this feat given the right route
