Need a guidebook to Kern Knotts, The Napes, Napes Needle, Tophet Wall, Gable Crag, Boat How and Pillar Rock? Look no further as the Fell and Rock Climbing Club (FRCC) have just published their latest guidebook, Gable & Pillar (2007).

This, the latest guidebook to the traditional home of Lake District climbing, in close proximity to the Wastwater Hotel, offers numerous routes for all climbers on some of the Lake District's finest high mountain crags.

This guide was researched and written by Phil Rigby and Stephen Reid in conjunction with the FRCC Guide Book Committee. Phil Rigby produced the colour photodiagrams and Al Phizacklea produced the maps. It has a whopping 402 pages, a plastic cover and guidebook ribbon, with colour photo-topos and action shots throughout together with many historical photos from the FRCC archives

The next FRCC guidebooks due for publication are Buttermere and St Bees due out early 2008 followed by Eastern Crags & Outcrops due out 2008/9.

You can view a map of the FRCC guidebook coverage to the Lake District here.

The FRCC published its first climbing guide in 1922, and its Guide Book Committee has been producing definitive guides to Lakeland rock climbing ever since.

What a crazy photo! Never see the Needle from that angle before. Having stood on the top I know it's loose, looking at that pic you wonder what keeps the top block on.
It's loose?! I didn't notice that the other day...

Sure is! I stood on the top and rocked, you can feel it move a couple of inches.
