Clive Allen of Ascent Marketing and Matt Heason of Heason Events who are helping organise and promote the Kendal Mountain Festivals have just told us that the final film selection has been made and there are 75 films being shown, over 20 are film premieres and have never been seen before by the public. All being shown between 20th - 23rd November at the Kendal Mountain Festival.

Here are Clive's and Matt's selection from that crop of premieres,

World premieres:
A Life In Adaptation: a film profiling alpinist Andy Parkin, his success despite permanent disabilities sustained while climbing, and his art. Call It What You Want: from Steep Media about Kendal's own climbing prodigy George Ullrich. Au Delà des Cimes: a film profiling Catherine Destivelle and her climbing; Catherine and director Rèmy Tezier will introduce the film at Kendal. Committed Vol 2 from Hotaches Productions features James Pearson succeeding on his biggest climbing project ever – and the UK's hardest rock climb – Walk Of Life (E12). The Sky Pirates of Hoy; the story behind the first BASE jump from The Old Man of Hoy by Tim Emmett, Gus Hutchinson-Brown and Roger Holmes.

European premieres:
Tracking the White Reindeer: a beautiful film following the Tsaatan nomads of northern Mongolia.

British premieres:
15 British premieres at Kendal this year include Ama Dablam, Beyond The Void featuring (and introduced by) Simon Yates.

Plus:
Festival favourite Alastair Lee will be presenting his latest release On Sight, with a lecture full of anecdotes from the making of the film. American climber, author and IMAX filmmaker David Breashears talks about his latest PBS film Storm Over Everest with excerpts. Cameron McNeish and Richard Else, responsible for the hugely successful Wilderness Walks series, preview their new BBC documentary.

I hope these aren't premieres in the same way that Joe Simpson's film was a premiere last year - a week after appearing on channel 4 ! Roll on end of November...
