"During the third week of October, alpine climbing conditions were reported on one site as: "Unseasonably warm temperatures over the last 10 days has turned excellent North face climbing conditions into a bit of a nightmare." Not what Brit Guides, Stu McAleese and Rich Cross, found on a quick 'alpine hit' when they managed two north face routes during this period.
On a tight schedule they climbed The Shroud on the Grandes Jorasses and joined by Graham Frost went on to make a fast ascent of the classic Schmidt Route on the North Face of the Matterhorn (4478m)".
