Once again UK guidebooks put in a good show at the Banff Mountain Book Festival. Two of the five 'Exposition' finalists are from the UK.

The UK finalists are Scottish Winter Climbs, (Andy Nisbet, Rab Anderson and Simon Richardson published by the Scottish Mountaineering Club) and Western Grit, (Chris Craggs, published by Rockfax).

The three other finalists are:

Himalaya by Bike, Laura Stone, Trailblazer Publications

National Geographic Complete Survival Manual, Michael S. Sweeney, National Geographic Books

The various categories in the book festival received a total 101 entries from 10 countries in what is the 16th annual competition. The 2009 festival jury includes Stephen Goodwin (United Kingdom), Susan E.B. Schwartz (United States), and Jon Popowich (Canada). Winners of the awards will be announced in advance of the festival, on Thursday, October 29, 2009.
