On December 28th, after ten days of effort, Cody Roth managed to make the 2nd ascent of Maurizio "Manolo" Zanolla's extremely technical Malvazija at Dvigrad on the Istrian peninsula, Croatia. The first ascent was made way back in 1989, but the testpiece has repelled all would be repeaters until now.

The climb was graded 8b+ at the time by Manolo. Since then, it would appear that some holds have broken and Cody also broke two holds en route to climbing it. Cody would propose a grade of 8c+ for Malvazija in its current state. Naturally he's super thrilled to have done it and says he gave 100% commitment to the route.
