After far too long, here's finally the first part of the Tierra Boulder Battle 2012.
This is the competition where the athletes themselves set the problems, which they also have a couple of hours to practice prior to the event.

The venue was, as always, Klättercentret in Stockholm, and the results as follows:

1. Shauna Coxsey/Guillaume Glairon-Mondet
2. Mélanie Sandoz/Nacho Sanchez
3. Matilda Söderlund/Nalle Hukkataival
4. Tina Johnsen-Hafsaas/Magnus Midtbö
5. Sasha Digiulian/Robert Rundin

Since the comp, many of the climbers have done remarkably well. A few examples:
Shauna Coxsey has entered 3 world cups and finished 4th, 2nd and 4th.
Nacho Sanchez has made the first ascent of an 8C and finished 9th in the world cup.
Matilda Söderlund has onsighted three 8b's and flashed an 8b+ and an 8b.
Sasha Digiulian has repeated her 2nd 9a.

Part 2 next week.

The Tierra Boulder Battle is sponsored by: Tierra, Klättercentret, Core Climbing holds, JM holds, Powerade and Glaceau Vitamin Water

Wow, didn't know it was possible for commentators to be that annoying.

Not that i don't like to watch Nacho climb, but i'd rather have seen Shauna doing her problem than watch his replay.

Yeah that one move was the one I wanted to see most in the whole video!

Yeah me too. Only 1 camera i think. Nice to hear how impressed they were with this unknown girl from Liverpool in America who wasn't even sponsored. It must be hard being a commentator though filling in that much time. It helped me get through a boring fingerboard session.

Would have been good to see indeed. Miss Coxsey is on fire right now. Thanks to Bjorn for keeping us in the loop as well. Plenty to learn from in this vid.
