Tonight's Friday Night Video is quite the scoop. A Dave MacLeod video portrait.

Lukasz Warzecha and Wojtek Kozakiewicz aka the 'Polished project' put together this film last year. A few months ago we showed some short extracts on UKC from this film, and then the guys entered the full version into the film festivals over winter.

Now we have the full version, courtesy of Mountain Equipment.

Dave MacLeod has contributed a great deal to British and world climbing, not only through his difficult and standard raising new routes in both summer and winter, but through his excellent book, and his well followed coaching blog.

We have an exclusive interview with Dave coming on Monday morning, where we discuss his recent routes on Ben Nevis that have been controversial.

But for the weekend, here's 'Dave' the video.

Mountain Equipment say:

"Dave Macleod is without doubt one of the world's top all-round climbers - renowned for his dedication and single minded training. Many hours of gripping footage document Dave working on his latest projects, cranking hard and succeeding on seemingly impossible routes. But what about Dave the man? This film, shot in Magic Wood, Switzerland, is a portrait of Dave – combining interviews and climbing. This unique glimpse of Dave's life, allows him to share his experiences, his ideas, his thoughts on being a climber and what it really takes to improve and succeed."

I totally agree Jenny. It's nice to hear a world class climber talking about trying hard and struggling. This is an inspirational film.

Really enjoyed this. Nice guy. Anyway, I really think we could be up for Cliffhanger 2 - he's looking a hell of a lot like (a less beefy version of) Sly in some angles....

Great wee film. Genuinely inspiring, puts into words brilliantly the need to enjoy the failing and trying in any sport, rather than just the rare successes. Nice to be reminded that's it's like that for everyone.
