On Saturday 27th September French climber Caroline Ciavaldini made an ascent of Dave Cuthbertson's Requiem (E8 6c) E8 6b at Dumbarton Rock near Glasgow.

Completing the route on her seventh attempt, Caroline adds Requiem to a growing list of hard trad climbs above E7, having recently headpointed Une Jeune Fille Quatre Vingt Dix Ans (E8 6c) E8 6c at Nesscliffe (UKC News Report) and making ascents of Chupacabra (E8 6c) E8 6c and Chicama E9 6c last year (UKC News Report.) Despite her background in sport climbing, Caroline is rapidly making her way up the grades in trad climbing.

Commenting on Requiem, Caroline explained "The route was so much fun to try, it's a very different style to what I'm used to and I found the crack climbing at the beginning challenging. There is also a really hard boulder sequence at the top with a good rest before it - I had to dig out some of my competition tactics to be able to leave the rest and really fight hard through the top section!"

Caroline has been climbing at Dumbarton Rock with her husband James Pearson for the last two weeks and her ascent follows James' repeat of Rhapsody (E11 7a) E11 7a (UKC News Report).

I must confess to loving her a bit. Propper 15 year old crush territory. I've told my wife, she forgives me. Bloody impressive.

Wonder when this will get onsighted? Of course, what would have been two prime candidates for this ended up going for Rhapsody.
