German competition climber Sebastian Halenke has continued his impressive run of form in ticking-off British testpieces whilst on his short UK climbing trip, this time by climbing three classic 8A boulder problems in one day at Bowden Doors in Northumberland.
Sebastian was being shown around "The County" by Shaun Duke, who told UKC:
"We got to Kyloe at midday so Sebastian could try Monk Life, but conditions were against him so after he sent most of the harder problems at Kyloe - including two 7c+'s - we headed to Bowden Doors. A quick ascent of The Crack (f7C) (8a), a flash of Born Lippy (f7C+) (8a) and a 2nd go send of Staggered SS (f8A) (8a) all in the baking heat made for a good day out for him!"
Not only is Sebastian a top sport climber - with his assault on Malham Cove the other day, onsighting Raindogs 8a and making short work of Transformer 8c (UKC News Report) - it seems he is equally at home on tricky British bouldering classics.
He reportedly "loved the style of climbing in Northumberland" and vowed to return to take on some more County testpieces.
