While waiting for her project to dry, Ashima Shiraishi, 14, made quick work of Nordic Flower, ~8c/+, in the Hanshelleren cave at Flatanger, Norway.

9a was originally suggested for Nordic flower, but has since come down a bit and settled around the 8c/+ mark.

From Instagram: It was nice to take a break from my wet/hard project and to climb this 160ft beast!

Yes, apparently that's correct 8c's aren't difficult enough to qualify as a project for Ashima anymore!
Her project? Thor's hammer, 9a+, but according to Henning Wang the chances of it drying up before Ashima has to go back are slim to none unfortunately...

Too bad her project is wet. I wonder how far she got with it before. The photo of Nordic Flower is amazing. Also a vid of Ondra onsighting it here: https://youtu.be/OflcnwJeg1g Flatanger looks like a phenomenal climbing destination. I wonder how reliable the weather is there during the climbing season. And only 57 routes listed in the database though, not many for an international destination. Or is that number now totally out of date? Also any info on the other 7 similar caves?

Stp- I have been twice now and can confirm that it is world class. Best rock i have ever climbed on. 100s of routes in the cave and on the 3-4 other crags in the valley. Everything from trad multi pitch to 50m 9b+ sport and more rock than you can shake a stick at that hasn't even been touched yet. I have the latest guidebook if you want to have a look. World class bouldering areas near by as well. Vingsand and Harbak Fly to Trondheim then 2 hour drive. Camping below the crag and not expensive, food price is OK but more than here. You need a second mortgage though if you want to drink. I am keen to head back next year, so much better than spanish limestone.

is there good stuff below 7a there?

On the wings of the main cave there are maybe 20 but loads in the valley crags.

I've being going to Namsos (an hour east of Flatanger) for the last 20 years now and I can confirm that there is more rock in the area than you could possibly imagine. Blank walls 300m high and kilometres long abound. Seaside bouldering, single or multi pitch, mountain routes, take your choice. Everyone should go.
