Last month, Sheffield-based climber Dave Mason returned from Rocklands, South Africa having completed his long-term project King of Limbs (V14) 8B/+. Dave has just released a video of his ascent.
He first tried the problem in 2013, but considered himself "a country mile off the strength required for this boulder."
After three sessions in 2014, Dave was still off the mark for completing it. A shoulder injury then set him back and it wasn't until June this year that he returned and completed the problem.
Dave commented:
"To put in context how difficult King of Limbs is for me I think it is worth mentioning that in these two trips I ticked 24 problems of 8A and harder including seven 8B’s.
"I hope the video captures what King of Limbs means to me and how much I enjoyed the process of trying it; frustrating as that was at times! Also excuse the odd profanity but they are mumbled quietly!"
