Demon Direct IX,9 onsighted by MacLeod

Dave MacLeod has onsight flashed one of Scotland's hardest mixed routes 'Demon Direct' IX,9 in Coire an Lochain, Cairngorm. Dave, climbing with Gareth Hughes from Glasgow, lead both pitches, onsighting the crux IX pitch. Dave had previously onsighted the easier top pitch which is shared with the neighbouring Happy Tyroleans IX,10. The ascent is the first repeat of the route since Alan Mullin and Steve Paget's first ascent in 2001. Dave almost dropped a tool while clipping the peg on the crux section and had to reverse 7 metres back to a shake out twice to avoid pumping out on the top roof. The IX,9 grade was confirmed.
