Here's your ticket back to the '80s! Statement of Youth is premiering online this Friday 17-05-19 at 6pm and will be free to watch from then on. You can subscribe to our YouTube Channel and click 'set reminder' on the film below and YouTube will let you know when it's live. We hope you enjoy the film.

The 1980's saw climbing standards rise exponentially. At the start of the decade, 7b+ was cutting edge, but by the end of the '80s, 9a was the new world standard. By the end of the decade, the sport had changed beyond recognition and a paradigm was set for future generations.

A small group of climbers would do anything to climb full-time: sleeping in sheds underneath crags, shoplifting for food and clothes, and living off the dole. These climbers were living outside the rest of society and went on to become the most influential figures in the history of British climbing.

A UKClimbing film directed by Nick Brown and supported by BMC TV, Boreal and Wild Country.

Featuring: Jerry Moffatt, Ben Moon, Chris Gore, Andy Pollitt, Martin 'Basher' Atkinson, Mark 'Zippy' Pretty, Craig Smith, Steve Lewis, Mark Leach and Ed Douglas

This may be a stupid question but does it stay available after 6pm or is it some kind of live event that you can only view as it happens?

I'm sure I watched this online last weekend.

It was available on the BMC site for last weekend only

Looks like it's a one-off at that specific time. Like the BMC preview last weekend, it's presumably aimed at those who no longer climb, as the rest of us will be off climbing for the weekend :(

No, it’ll be available from 6pm and then will stay up.
