The Ranger Service said a team in the coire had reported a near miss from rockfall coming from above the Goat Track.

"What came down narrowly missed the group & thankfully nobody was hurt. Looks like there may have been further rockfall in that area in previous days or weeks judging by the divots in the grass."

The comments were backed up by Cairngorm Mountain rescue team, who added:

"Great care and attention advised whilst crossing the Goat Track area below Fingers Ridge / Goat Track Gully."

"We would not advise attempting to make any ascents on this increasingly worrying part of the coire. If you are planning to visit that area, please be aware."

We had a very near miss a couple of years ago; we went to do magic crack and around 5 minutes after getting to the base of the route, several tonnes of rock clattered down right across the path we had just walked across. Sobering to say the least. Take great care anywhere in that coire, it's an accident waiting to happen
