Tomahawk 8B+ by Will Bosi

Will Bosi has continued his limestone bouldering spree by repeating Mike Adams' Tomahawk (f8B+) (8B+) at Impossible Roof, near Roche Abbey. To avoid the summer heat, Will waited until 10 p.m. - when it was still 25 degrees - before going for the tick.

Although Will has had a particular sport route on his mind for a while now, conditions have turned him towards bouldering. He told UKC:

'With the weather being so hot, Mutation 9a is out of the picture for now, so I've been really psyched to try do as many hard boulders as I can, simply because I've not spent much time bouldering in the past. Therefore I'm definitely psyched to try some harder things!'

Despite ticking yet another 8B+ quickly and in less-than-ideal conditions, Will maintains that the boulder didn't really suit him all that well. He commented:

'Tomahawk is a really cool boulder which doesn't climb like normal lime at all. Instead it is very technical with the crux relying on two heel toe cams! This is why I'm really happy to send it as it's definitely not my best style, so I had to try really hard to make it work.'

This week's episode of In Isolation is an interview with Will:

Will also completed two 8A+s at Griff's Buttress in Blackwell Dale and recently repeated Dan Varian's Bewilderness 8B+ at Badger Cove in just four attempts.

Earlier this year, Will climbed his first 9b - becoming only the second Brit to climb the grade - with an ascent of La Capella in Siurana, Spain.

Now that some IFSC competitions are back on the cards from August, Will might have to put rock ascents to one side again as he works towards his last chance for Olympic qualification in Moscow in November, COVID-19 situation permitting.
