More Everest records broken

Lhakpa Gelu Sherpa has smashed the speed record set just three days previously by Pemba Dorjie Sherpa. On the 25 May Lhakpa reached the summit, climbing c3,348m vertical metres from base camp in just 10 hours and 56 minutes - his 10th time to the top.

A day later, on the 26 May, Apa Sherpa from Namche Bazar reached the summit for a record 13th time!

Back on the 22nd, Lhakpa Sherpa (30), became the first woman in the world to climb Everest three times, consecutively. Her younger sister Ming Kipa Sherpa (15), accompanied her and became the youngest ever person to summit Everest. A family outing it seems, they went to the top with their brother Mingma Gyalu, 24.

Sibusiso Vilane, a member of the Jagged Globe team, reached the summit on the 26 May to become the first black person to climb Everest. Sibusiso is a game ranger born in Swaziland.
