Now it's getting silly: faster still on the Nose

OK, now it's getting a bit silly. Rock+Ice reports: "Five days after Hans Florine and Jim Herson obliterated the latest speed record by climbing the Nose in three hours, 57 minutes and 27 seconds, Tim O'Neill and Dean Potter smashed that record by a whopping 33 minutes and 23 seconds.

"On November 2, they ascended the El Cap route in just three hours, 24 minutes and 4 seconds -- that comes out to little more than six minutes a pitch for what is normally a 34-pitch route!"

We can see where this is going, and it's not going to be pretty when someone screws up: a missed clip, an error in swapping belays, something unpredictable. OK, this may sound like telling people not to run with scissors, but couldn't they at least enjoy the view for a few moments?

I say let me know and i'll drive and we can do some new routes, especially if its clean. I also know of a unclimbed grit venue with potential for up to 50 routes but got to get of my arse and do some gardening and cleaning and check rock condition so haven't got round to it. Perhaps we could have a rocktalk new routes picnic??

HMMM... Its quarried grit - the main problem i reckon will be access although it is quite well hidden and so you might be able to get in and out un-noticed! But then is it worth developing a crag if the only reason is to new route if nobody else can get in there? I checked streetmap and there are no crags marked on according to the 1:50 os maps at this area - i'll check the 1:25k ones though! Clues... hmmm yorks/Lancs borders!
