Birmingham Wall set to open in June

© Mike Kerby
After the closure of the Rockface Climbing Wall in Birmingham 6 months ago, Birmingham will soon again be home to a dedicated indoor climbing centre. Creation Climbing Centre, located within The Epic Centre, Europe's biggest indoor skate park, will open on Saturday June 4th. The bouldering wall has now been completed along with one of the main 14m vertical lead walls and the 14 fully-featured top-rope walls. Work now continues on the two main 14m lead walls. The opening will see the completion of phase one and work will begin on phase two in September this year which will see another 14m free-standing wall and the opening of a retail outlet, and the Epic cafe and bar. The centre will have over 220 routes which will be changed in stages every six weeks along with up to 50 boulder problems on the main bouldering wall, cave area and freeform sections.

With all due respect, it doesn't look very high. Certainly not as high as the old Rockface. Or do the piccies not do justice?

Jon, If you or anyone else does not like what they see stop bitching about it. Put your own neck in the block and have the guts to start something yourself. If I have gone a bit ott any it was just an observation, sorry. But for anyone who like to just criticise without making it informed, constructive criticism, well at least Mike has the bottle to do something about it himself rather than sitting back and moaning. Speaking of moaning - mine is now over.
