Kalymnos Airport Officially Open

©
Matt Heason reports at planetFear.com that:

"With connections twice a day from Athens International Airport it is now possible to get all the way from the UK to Kalymnos without risking being cut off on or from the island because of rough seas. There was an official opening ceremony last Wednesday with lots of VIPS from the Greek Government! The local authority put up an all night fiesta with fireworks, live music and dancing to celebrate this milestone for the island.

Flights will be available into Kalymnos until November."

Great news! Now all we need to do is persuade Ryanair to fly direct from the UK for 99p. grin.

Would be nice but runway is too short. Only Greek domestic fights. Cheers Tim

Bit of a shame in a way. The ferry trip elevated the island above the shallowness of the resorts on Kos. Now the the island will probably be 'developed' to cater for coach loads of tubbers from Essex off to roast themselves for two weeks every summer and there goes paradise. Ho Hum.
