Clean Climbing - Crag Guardians...Widdopstock and more

© BMC/Ian Fenton
On September 13th Matt Triolett organised a crag clean up at Widdop (in Lancashire) and at the same time opened up some neglected bouldering at this premiere gritstone crag.

Staying north, on 28th September there's more cleaning up at Egerton Quarry near Bolton where the work over the last couple of years has rejuvenated this now popular venue.

Old news perhaps, but a double thumbs up to the Northumbrian Mountaineering Club who cleared pines from Dark Side of Back Bowden Doors (Cockenheugh) in August.

In fact, all around the UK climbers are pulling together and making a positive impact on our climbing environment. All it takes is a few motivated individuals to spread some enthusiasm, and a little guidance from the BMC, and we become not only users of the UK's cliffs, but guardians.
