First Ascent for Ondra opens South Africa's Hardest Route

Adam Ondra has climbed a long standing project at the South African sport venue of Montagu. Mazawattee is graded F8c+ (South African 35) and was bolted in the late 1990's by Sean Maasch.

Quoted on the Climbing.co.za is an eye witness account:

"He did grunt a bit going through the cruxy top section - apparently this is only the second time he has really grunted on his trip here."

Mazawattee is now graded harder than any other route in South Africa.
