West Country Climbs - OUT NOW!

© UKC News
West Country Climbs has been published. Rockax/UKC Director and Publisher Alan James is busy packing up copies right now. Somebody's got to do it!

This much-anticipated guide is now being sent all round the country to people who pre-ordered a copy, distributors and retailers in time for the summer holidays which start next week for most.

This is Rockfax's second book of 2010 and has once again been published on time. It is the biggest Rockfax ever at 424 pages and finishing it off has taken a huge effort from the Rockfax team, author Mark Glaister and Editor Stephen Horne in particular.

This book represents several milestones for Rockfax:

  • The biggest Rockfax ever at 424 pages
  • The most paper ever used in one print run at 12 tonnes!
  • The 250,000th Rockfax book ever printed! That's 1/4 of a million books!

Apart from that it is a cracking guidebook to an amazing climbing area. Go west young climber!

This looks like a great guide! Well done to the team on it! Must be said, that this guide really isnt a definitive guide, but is absolutely great for anyone wishing to tick the classic and original lines in the southwest, without wanting to pay probably nearly £100 for all the local guides! Thanks Guys!

Does that mean preorders are going out in todays' post?

Looking forward to this popping through the letter box. I think it's a great approach when you are travelling to different parts of a big area. If you were climbing one area all the time you're bound to have the specific guides but not much point buying all of them when you are only climbing a few of the best routes in each area. The Pat LittleJohn guide of the similar name is excellent but lacks the great colour photos to dream over whilst reading at home!

Yes, although we have a lot of pre-orders it may be that not all of them get done today. Alan
