Conny Matthes, a Frankenjura local, has repeated Ingo Gräbner's Sea of green, ~8A+, at Tretbootwändchen, Frankenjura. Some say 8A+ and some 8B. Although no stranger to hard repeats, this was her hardest ascent to date. At least in terms of numbers. I asked her to tell me a little bit about the problem and her ascent of it.

"Sea of green" is a problem near Pottenstein. It was opened by Ingo Gräbner, who originally gave it 8B+. He tried the problem very often. The first repeat downgraded the boulder to ~8A+, that's it.
I tried the boulder for four days spread over three weeks. The challenge is the combination of body tension and finger power. Comparing it with other boulders in this grade is difficult for me. A month earlier I did "Terminator", 8A/8A+ [a pure roof]. "Sea of green" felt me a little easier. It's more my style. But it's a very good line and nice moves on underclings, crimps and pockets.
The biggest challenge for me was to find good conditions. That's true Frankenjura ;-). But today I found good friction!
